Electron beam lithography: An electron beam pattern generator (EBPG) uses an electron beam to write very fine patterns in an electron sensitive resist. Structures with dimensions of a few tens of nanometers can be made this way.

Liquid helium is often used to cool experimental apparatus.

Dilution refrigerators can be used to cool samples down to a few milliKelvin.
